Chimney Liners: Why do I need a liner?

An unlined chimney may allow hazardous flue gases to enter the home and high flue temperatures can ignite a fire where a crack or gap allows access to interior construction combustibles. There are flexible stainless steel liners and poured-in-place masonry liners available.

Birds in the Chimney

This time of year you may be hearing birds in your chimney - its the breeding season for Chimney Swifts, a federally protected bird because it eats so many insects, especially mosquitoes. As soon as they migrate in the fall, you can have your chimney cleaned and a cap installed to prevent them from returning to your chimney next spring.

Chimney Fires

Chimneys should be inspected annually and cleaned of any creosote build up to avoid chimney fires.

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Each year more than 17,000 fires are caused by lint buildup in dryer vents. Make an annual cleaning of your dryer vent part of your safety checklist!
